THE MOON IN THE MIRROR (1990)

Synopsis

In the mystical port of Valparaíso lives an old and sick marine, Don Arnaldo (rafael Benavente), confined with his son, El Gordo (Ernesto Beadle).

He controls every movement of the house from his bed through the mirrors hanging from his bedroom walls.

The son is obedient and submissive, but he longs for his freedom as much as he fears it. Guilt is the only thing that prevents him from admitting how much he wants the old man dead.

Lucrecia (Gloria Münchmeyer) is his somewhat older widowed neighbor. El Gordo and Lucrecia have feelings for each other, and flirt each other behind Don Arnaldo’s back.

El Gordo, being excited about Lucrecia, dares to break free from confinement and take a walk together down the Bay.

After several rebellious acts, Don Arnaldo plays his last card to regain control over his son.
